source for Diesel motor oil

Where do you guys get your Diesel-rated motor oil?

Is it available from McParts or do you go to a
truck or tractor store?

Live near a Wal-Mart? They have Shell Rotella T in gallon jugs and six-gallon cases. Good price too. I'm not trying to tell you that's the best oil to use - but it is diesel rated.

My dad had always used Rotella in is 93 300D 2.5 Turbo and loved it. I always used Valvoline All Fleet Plus until they discontinued it and thought it was good. Both were purchased at local chain autoparts stores (Checker or Champion). Rotella comes in the gallon jug, so it's easy to just pour two of those in and call it a day.

If I get this 240D I'm looking it, I'll probably go Rotella (or experiment a little).

PS: Most places, even gas stations, have SOME oil that's diesel rated.

I recently switched to Amsoil synthetic 15W-40 heavy duty diesel oil for my 240D. I had been using Rotella T. I was surprised at how much quieter and smoother the engine is with the synthetic. I decided to try Amsoil after reading another post on here about synthetic oils. I couldn't find an Amsoil dealer close to me, so I purchased it off of their website- amsoil.com.

OK, I just got back from Wal-Mart. I got the
Shell Rotella T.

Will the Castrol 10W40 (I just put in there)
do any harm for a couple thousand miles
or should I change the oil to the diesel rated
stuff ASAP?

Thanks,

Jeff

Th Castrol will do no harm, but when you change it you are doing the right thing be using a universal grade oil such as Rotella T. There are many oils that are diesel rated, but the universal grades are formulated especially for diesels. The added cleaners work very well in a gas engine to keep them spic and span inside. I use Chevron Delo 400 in everything gas or diesel, except for the newer gas cars that I began their life on Mobil One.

Good luck,
