!*@-;! - Lost Copper Washer for Primer Pump
I ordered the primer pump a long time ago and never got around to doing switching it out. Now that I'm going to help a buddy replace his, thought I'd do mine (went to show him how they are supposed to operate, and found that mine leaked diesel all over the place). Problem is, I lost the copper washer that came with the pump. I ordered another one to put into his car and to use as a reference, but I can't seem to find a local source for the same washer. Anybody know where to find one, or am I stuck buying an entirely new pump to get at the washer?
Thanks, Eric

Copper washers are available at most chain auto parts stores. (Hint: Ask for copper washers for the "brake system" or you might get a "deer-in-the-headlights" look.)

Ace harware stores usually carry a good supply of the "odd ball" stuff like copper washers.

i went through that when i replaced my fuel filter. I didnt get the copper washers and i drove everywhere trying to match them up to no avail, and the dealer was closed. i ended up using a variety of washers to rig it up. its been over a year since then and i havent replaced them yet and they occasionally leak. just today i was under my car with a wire hanger and pliers strapping up my exhaust when i smelled fuel. i need to do that this weekend . I know the dealer has em in stock so yours should too.

The best place to look for that Copper washer would be a Fuel Injection Shop.
As a temp fix has anyone tried a thin O-ring in place of the Copper Washer or simply a bead of Silicone Sealant (let it cure before you use it). There is also some expensive stuff called Vibra-Tite which is a thread locker and thread selant. You brush it on the threads and it dries on like a very heavy rubber cement. After it drys you simply screw it in and it seals. Unlike Loctite it is still easy to remove later. I mention it because some Skateboarders and Moutain Bikers use it and you may know someone that already has some.
