The euro and US bumpers are the same shape, the US bumpers just extend out further and are mounted on shock absorbers.

Only the W123 300D's came with round lights.

I'd get to changing those oil cooler lines quickly if they are seeping, if they blow your engine will be toast!

My SD doesn't leak much....just a tiny bit. My dad's '83 SD leaks a little too, but the blue one (in the top pic) doesn't leak a drop.....it has a low miles engine and lots of new parts....including the oil cooler lines.

I replaced my oil cooler and lines about 4 years ago. Expensive....but well worth it to prevent something bad from happening.

28 mpg combined, but I was into travel heavily covering 7-states with the SD.

30 mpg on the highway @ 60 - 65 mph out of my '83 300SD. Never more, never less.

what will the green tank sell for?
I wouldn't want it with that deteriorated and corrosion laden engine compartment, but that's just me. Don't like the exterior color either. However, if you put a gun on me and told me I had to make a bona fide offer on it? $3,000 tops, if everything worked precisely as it should during the pre-purchase check ride.

I changed my 300SD's myself in my garage using one floor jack, and jackstands. They were a bear to do, but I got 'em done. I recall the hoses were a couple hundred bucks and change, and that was 15 years ago.

The engine bay does not look too bad to me. Granted mine are cleaner, but I have seen FAR worse. I would say $5000 is about reasonable for that car if everything works.

What's the big deal about euro tail lights anyway? They just have a bit more amber on them...I think the US tail lights look better.

I'm not too keen on the color at all. Was that an original color?

I never saw one that color in Texas or all the states I travel on business. And there were probably more SDs sold in Texas than any other state back then. Maybe they didn't buy them for Texans.

Yeah, just been waiting for nice weather, and the 3000 miles for the oil change to come due. Cost isn't bad ~$65 apiece. It was hard to tell if they were leaking or if it was just the power steering. Used to geeb all over the place. Replaced that, now the oil seep in more noticeable. Leaves about a quarter sized spot wherever I park it, kinds like a dog or a harley.

strange holes on the passenger side of the center console

Who knows what those holes are?
Mine has the exact same holes.
Some kind of factory option, mobile phone maybe?

The holes are most likely from a dealer installed or aftermarket cell phone handset. No factory installed cell phones until the 90s.

Matter of taste. When going through the trouble of fitting Euro headlights and bumpers, why not go with Euro tail lights for fuller effect? Other than they're impossible to find.
