We wouldn't have expected anything other than that rear passenger door! :P
Zack is a good dude! Rotchester's awesome front seats live on in Smash, and his rear seats live on in the white wagon! |
I almost forgot that the hood star got swiped as well. :( Poor Rotchester.

Looks like it's had a hard life since the exchange...
What happened to the front bumper impact strip? |
I bought a euro '84 wagon in Berkeley, CA last for 700.00 with an amazing amount of previous work, a still semi working SLS which I fixed for about 350.00 and a clean rust free body -love the wagon and our CA climate - good for cars! -too bad about the rot! I might be contacting you for spares -

After purchase, we immediately had to replace the tranny (but, we already knew it was shot) and replace the trailing arm bushings. After that, it and Thing One headed to NY from TX and roamed the east coast for a couple of years. Then, made a trip to, dig this, Skagway, AK via TX...did many, many trips between Skagway and Whitehorse hauling bikes and cases of PBR. Passion Flower lived there for a summer and than headed to McMinnville, OR for almost a year where she was stolen, wrecked and recovered with a huge dent in her flank. After OR, she headed down to SoCal and then back to TX...somewhere along the way her venerable 617 jumped cam time but would still run. Arriving in Austin, she was parked out at Leathermangs farm for a year. Thing One came home from some other adventure and needed a ride so we took a battery out to Greg's, installed it, started her up and drove her home. The timing thing and a bad turbo helped us decide that it was too much trouble to get her going and we hauled her to the farm to live out her days as a parts car. If there was ever a vehicle that deserved to be on a stick in front of the factory at Stuttgart, Passion Flower would probably be the one. |
Got a phone call from Zach today. Rotchester has been under his care for a year now, the only failures being a headlight bulb and the odometer. He still loses some power when the tank is low, but my guess is the leaking primer pump is the culprit. He had a major concern with his car that his uncle, a hair dresser, diagnosed as a rod knock.
He described a horrible banging noise on the passenger side at startup and shutdown, and just a bit of noise when idling. A quick check for movement of the air cleaner confirmed the bracket holding it in place had snapped. :o Whoopdie do... It can wait until the next time I'm in LA... |
