84 300d
Can anyone explain how the rear bumper is held on in a 1984 300D? Mine was knocked off and I want to put it back on and I ordered a new center rubber strip for it. I just dont understand how it goes on any exploded diagram or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok, it took me a LONG time to figure this one out..
Slide on one side of the plastic tab strip inside the rubber bumper. Attach the other rubber tab strip to the car only. Now attach the plastic tab peice with the bumper attached to the car. Line up the rubber bumper over the plastic tab peice already on the car Hammer it on. I know it sounds confusing, its the best I could do. Put one side of the bumper on, assembled and assemble the other half while its on the car. John |

If you're talking about the rubber strip, the best way I've found is to start at the end by pushing the rubber slot over the plastic bracket, then ROLL it on. I also used some water and dishwashing detergent to lubricate it.
Good luck, |
