Vacuum Control Valve (I Broke it!!)

Hi all,
I am in the process of putting a fresh set of injectors in my 2.5. I pulled them today, and cleaned everything as best as I could to prepare for the new set that Brother Bryan is rebuilding for me somewhere in the North Woods. I noticed that many of the vacuum lines were brittle and I cracked one, so while I was in town yesterday, I picked up some hard line that while slightly larger, will still push into the rubber connectors. I traced out the broken line, and it led to a Y on top of the vacuum control valve. I gently twisted the line and Shazam! the nipple that the hose fits over that USED to be part of the vacuum control valve came off with the hose. I found a new control valve online, but is the blue plastic piece that the hoses connect to replaceable. I looked on my service CDs, and I found the section on adjusting it and it refers to section 27-140 for replacing it, but it seems my ebay service CD has omitted the whole Auto trans section (Section 27) Any insight will be greatly appreciated. BTW: this is my first post, and I think this will be in my sig, but in case it is not, I have a 1990 124,128 602,962
Thanks in advance,
JDC

VCV

They only sell the complete Vacuum Control Valve.
#385 in the Cyrillic pictograms below.
You'll note "They've" upgraded the VCV part number from 123 300 10 33
to a 140 300 08 33.
(AND it's Soo inexpensive!)
I'd start plundering P+Ps or call German Potomac (888) 236-9727 or (888) 852-8680 and ask if they've a good used one.
(Oh, and section 27 of the FSM CD is worthless for this task.)
The Adjustment procedure IS the R+R procedure also.

You might as well put both these in your bookmark's toolbar:

Menber GSXR's "Website":http://www.w124performance.com/images/
Also known as: "Bible,W124"

And Mercedes Benz Club of Russia's illustrated Electronic Parts catalog.
This is the page for the 124.128:
http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb1.asp?TP=1&F=124128_15S&M=602.962&GA=722.418&GM=717.437

Also Mercedes will "Give" you and Electronic Parts Catalog subscription for
Free for one year.
(they will ask for a US based credit card number to prove
you're a US customer)
https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/subscribe.jsp

(I find the RU EPC easier to Navigate,
and usually the Parts numbers are updated whenever Stuttgart upgrades...
[I always check them against each other though] )

Thanks

I really appreciate the quick reply. I'll order one in, and hopefully I can do that with the injectors next weekend. As stated, I do have the adjustment procedure on my CD, but has anyone changed one out? It looks like you just have to line up the tang in the valve with a slot in the I.P. and it is pretty straightforward. Will something fly out and attack me when I unbolt it? It was my intention just to get through the injectors right now, for everything else seems to work pretty well. I had planned to completely go through the vacuum system after she was up and running again, but this line goes straight to the amplifier so very little will be working without it. No time like the present....I suppose!

Thanks,
JDC

R+R VCV

I BELIEVE it's a straightforward Off/ON with no Tricks...

Update: Just so the next schmoe will know. The installation was really straightforward. Have an accomplice hold the accelerator to the floor while you turn the VCV clockwise until you feel resistance, then tighten it down. All my reading said that with the new style VCV the restriction in the hose would need to be removed. (Mine is green) Just for the sheer hell of it, I left mine in and took it around the block, and the tranny shifted like a sledgehammer. I pulled the restriction, and the car has never driven better. The hoses I replaced (which started this mess) have really made a difference. My alda is even kicking in now!
Thanks to all who pitched in.
