Question Another Glowplug question

Hey all, i've had this problem since we revived her, but when cold the 220D takes forever to start. Sometimes almost 15 seconds cranking...have to give the starter a break then another 7-8 seconds just about to start... another 3 seconds of almost starting then bam, she's on.

When the car is warm she fires right up in an instant, my red indicator on my dash does not light up too . I pulled out the glowplug closest to the firewall hoping to find a broken loop to blame the problem on, but it looked fine. However I noticed that the end was black on this one and the other three were all rusty and nasty. I'm hoping by just putting new gp's in will solve the problem, but is there anyway to make sure the system is working?

Also when I replace them, should I take off the injector lines? Cause it looks like there is no space for anything there. My wrench and hand are too fat.... This is also the x-mas tree hookup.. i'm too lazy to switch it over I'm so tempted to have the mechanic do it, but i'm afraid he's going to be like "oh it's this and this and this not the GP's, 300$"

If one is bad none will work. Pull off the 'toaster wires' and use a multimeter to test each plug. Replace any that show no continuity.
