AT Modulator Valve Confusion
I have a 1977 240D that is shifting rough. I tested the AT Modulator Valve and found that it was losing vacuum, so I ordered a new one (the red one). The problem is, when I took the old one out, I found that it has a pin with a spring around it coming out from the middle of the threaded part. The new one has no such pin - just a hole in the middle. The modulator seems identical in every other way, and none of the pictures I've seen online show the pin. The parts supplier couldn't help me.
So is this pin and spring a separate part that I need to purchase? If so, what's it called? By the way, I'm still a beginner, in case you couldn't tell. |

Robert - there is nothing else that came with the new part to go in the hole on the threaded side. I haven't tried it yet because I didn't want to have to redrain the transmission if it didn't work.
Greg - sounds like I have to switch the pin to the new modulator. Any advice on how to do that without damaging the pin or spring? Should I just yank it? It seemed like it was stuck pretty good, but then I don't like to try to force things that I'm not sure should be forced. Thanks! |
