Upper oil pan gasket - 617
I'm going to be swapping in a new used 617 into my 126 -- an '81 300SD. I'm wondering if I should utilize the opportunity to put in a new upper oil pan gasket. The thing does leak some oil I'd like to track it down and who knows, eliminate it. WHoops! It won't be my old block doing the leaking, but who knows on the new one?
For all I know, with this particular gasket it may not be necessary.

you can use Permatex Ultra grey. that is what metric Motors uses on their rebuilds and my indie also recommends.
there is also another thread on the same subject. www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=233287 Charlie
