Stupid Michigan and their "no fault" insurance. Even if it's her fault, you still get to pay for damage to your car.

Glad you're okay and the damage isn't too bad. I keep dreading something like this happening and the damage is just severe enough to be out of my ability to repair.

I don't understand Michigan's "no-fault" insurance. You're basically forced to buy collision/comprehensive. He's my thoughts...in every other state (I think every other state) if you have a car that you're not worried about, or a car that isn't worth a whole lot, you get liability coverage. That's required by law, and it only covers the OTHER car that you hit and it's your fault.

In Michigan, if you have a car that's not worth a whole lot, why would you bother buying insurance at all? Any one that you may hit will be insured by themselves. Am I missing something?

And what happens with a Michigonian (?) hits an out-of-state person (that happened to us)? Luckily, we had coll/comp coverage, otherwise, I don't think our company would have covered the damage...because if we only had liability, we would have expected the other driver's insurance to cover out damage...because that's the way we buy insurance in our (and every other) state.

So the moral is, don't drive to Michigan

I guess the poster asking about the tie rod didn't see the "U" shaped one in one of your pics.
Please document your repair process and update the info in this thread. Will make for a nice story.
BTW, tell me her insurance is helping you out with this.
Jimmy, there was not to much wrong with the fender as you can see from the attached photo.

And no, her insurance is not going to help out any as she doesn't have any.

Was she out-of-state then, or was she illegally uninsured?

Comprehensive/collision is NOT mandatory in Michigan, only liability and personal protection.

I have full coverage on one of my SD's and only liability on the other. My son totaled the other, so I was out on that one.

Either BathCity will have to take the driver of the Chevy to small claims or his insurance company will.

I called my MB dealer aand ordered the guide rod and lower spring pad, they will arrive Friday. I plan to hit the pick & pull Friday morning looking for the assorted items that will be needed, but I am concerned that a decent fender will be hard to come by.
You have the proper Klann spring compressor? Go ahead and replace LCA inner bearing and LCA -> strut rod bushing. If you are renting the compressor I would do this on both sides. Tie rod, idler arm bushings looked ok?

I don't have any collision on my MB's.....not worth it, the cost of it buys a new car every few years.

If that loser that hit you didn't have insurance, that's a crime and she is supposed to pay your repairs out of pocket then...at least I think that's how the law works. She should also be receiving a hefty ticket + up to 1 year in jail by Michigan law. There are stiff penalties here for driving without insurance.

The MB may be a total too.......it took quite a hit by the newish Aveo. The Chevy likely has a higher residual than the decades-old MB. Insurance companies deal in facts, dollars and cents, not desirability or someone's 'blue-sky' idea of value.
