WoooHooo! Man this B100 stuff is liquid gold for real guys!! I stopped in this little town next to mine where a guy has been up and running for some time now selling b5, b20, and b100. Its called Healey Bio-Diesel. It was hard to find, I was looking for a filling station style building, and I drove by this big brown metal building with the garage door open and inside was vats of biodiesel two story's tall. The guy charged me $1.80/gal, and said his price is usually 30-50 cents/gal cheaper that pump diesel. Pump diesel is 2.25 now, so thats 45 cents cheaper. Anyways, it was an experience for me, goldish brown liquid being pumped into myrtle that smelled like soy beans. Halfway home I noticed..... Myrtle is purring alot softer now, and even revs smoother. At home I got out and it smelled like fried hamburgers man!!! I was like WTF!!! LOL But yeah, Myrtle is loving it, and so am I. I told the guy Id be back every time I get close to "R"....err..."E"....lol. It makes me wonder why the hell anyone WOULDNT buy B100, except for temperature outside. The difference is night and day with the idle and smooth revving. Myrtle was singing like a canary coming home!! It also helps that BgKast rebuilt my injectors with monark nozzles, at home, I swiped a finger into the fuel filler neck and smelled the fuel. I was like "thats just not right man... smells like soybeans or something" Magic!!!

Biodiesel can really help smooth the racket, but a big reason for that is that it ignites at a different time than diesel. Probably you would want to advance your timing a little to keep your mpg up.

I've liked running bio the couple of times that I have, but it never smelled like hamburgers burning. I wonder from your description if he isn't selling some kind of purified vegoil... That's also a real good price for biodiesel, recently it usually ranges a little more expensive than pump diesel. If it is, run with it all summer!

It doesnt smell like the actual meat frying, just hot veggie oil I guess. I live in the middle of Kansas, soybeans planted for miles, maybe its why its cheaper?. The guy had a few square plastic containers with a metal frame that were filled with what said on the side "WVO", and he said he processes it with lye and methanol? and then washes it and dries it amongst other processes? Anyways, I will check my timing this weekend. But I have not noticed a loss in power, maybe even a slight gain. But yeah, at those prices, I plan to run it all summer and fall. Then go to D2 or B20 in winter. As I was filling up, 3 local farmers pulled up in huge tractors, the bio diesel guy said " well I got my work cut out for me, see you again soon"

I agree that bio is great, and I would still be using it had the station that I was buying it from gone broke due to a trucking company with a bogus credit card.

But keep an eye on your hoses. They will eventually get soft and gummy, and leak. Spray the left side of the engine with degreaser and wash it off so you can see if anything is leaking. McMasters sells Viton tubing, which won't leak.
It's pricey, perhaps pricier than replacing standard hoses every year or two. I can vouch for their return lines.

Its 30-50 cents cheaper because the producer probably isn't paying road taxes (hence the tractors pulling in). He also is making bio out of at least some WVO instead of raw soy or canola stock. That keeps costs lower.

If you are interested, Id ask him for a copy of ASTM test results. This tells you most notably if the fuel is 'dry' enough (water eliminated correctly), amongst other fuel quality parameters. There are ways to test bio at home, but usually a retail outlet has the results from a lab on hand.

Biodiesel from soy WVO should look straw colored and flow almost exactly like D2.

Your exhaust should smell like you heated a pan on the stove, and threw new vegetable oil on it. My bio comes from tortilla chip oil, and I never pick up the food-that-was-cooked-in-it scent in the finished bio or in the exhaust.

By the way, going from B100 to D2 will make you wonder what is wrong with your engine, the noise increase is more noticeable going back.

x2 what DD said; still that is great having a low cost source of BD.
I have been homebrewing BD from wvo for 3 years and my raw material cost is about $1.30/gal because bulk methanol here is pricey.
I replaced all fuel lines in my 82 and flushed my fuel tank before running b100 and have had no issues at all.
And for sure it just smells like hot oil when running

I think this guy is pretty legit. Our local newspaper has a small ad that states in 2007, Healey Biodiesel gave Government officials a tour of the plant, and then took questions from Legislators. If he was running an illegal operation, he would have been shot down by now.My sales receipt states that road tax was paid, and this guy really has a thing going on, and if he has the Government aware of his operations, I doubt he is selling water laden crap biodiesel. Here, pump B100 is pegged at 50 cents above D2. Its only sold at one station in the entire state of MA.

Thats awesome. We have a local biodiesel supplier too. I have never put regular diesel in this car yet.

I have been running only B20. I'm not brave enough to do the B99 yet. I plan to pull my screen this weekend. After 3 tanks of B20 and all the fuel line replacement, I feel good about running B99 now.

I buy from Glover oil in Melbourne. B20 is 2.04 per gallon. Versus 2.39 for Diesel everywhere around here. You can bring gas cans and fill up with the off road stuff for only 1.64 per gallon. I just aquired 2 55 gal drums and a pump. I'm going to start filling the car and bringing some home for when fuel prices spike.

Smells the same as diesel to me out the tailpipe. But almost no smoke.

So yep, I am hooked on B100....or B99.9, as Healy calls it. As long as the weather permits, Myrtle will be sipping on B100. Especially when its cheaper than RUG!!!!
