Being an old schooler, I like a car that can be driven on waste products and that I can do much of the maintenance and repairs myself (with the help of this GREAT forum). Although I didn't get much history on the car ---- here's the story my wife got while I was test driving. Car was bought new in GA and kept up well until 2000. Seller's sister in law bought it in 2000 and loved it, as should be. Hard times befell the owner's family. Husband died recently. No money for funeral. Brother in law (seller) gave sister in law $1900 for funeral expenses two months ago. She gave him the car. He lost his job and needed to make a house payment. Needed money worse than he needed an extra car. Put in 3 glow plugs and drove to the mule festival to put it in his brother's yard sale. My wife saw it - we were sort of looking for an SD. Rest of story you know. Although my wife LOVES this car, I still prefer driving my 300 D around town. Got some maintenance stuff to do (change all fluids, glow plugs, valve adjustment, etc) before we take a road trip. From all I've read on this forum, the SD is a good road car, while the 300D is a better town car. I hope to get the tach working so I can compare RPMs at highway speed. 75 mph winds my 300D about as tight as I care to go.
John,

That's about right @ $2K. Nice car.

Yep it's in top gear. One of the things I like most about these old cars is the transmission. Like driving a straight shift without the hassle of a straight shift.
