I've created my own Superfund site before...was changing the oil on the truck and neglected to check to see if the old gasket came off with the old spin on oil filter. It had stuck to the sealing surface of the filter mount. I spun on the new filter, making sure to pre oil the new gasket and everything. It worked after I started it up until I revved it...the oil pressure blew the double gasket and oil sprayed everywhere. My brother was watching for leaks and he jumped up waving his arms yelling to stop...made a pretty good puddle on the ground

Did you try hitting the filter housing gently with a mallet? Hit the housing not the lid and see if it pops the lid off...

I also think the filter housing and lid are too damaged to reuse. Time to hit the boneyard....

I don't see any reason to think anything is damaged yet. Can you tell if it is jammed on the studs or in the housing itself? If it's the housing itself, it seems it is almost certain that the o-ring is jammed between the lid and the housing with the bolts pushing it down hard enough to tighten everything up when you re-installed it.
Can you look at it closely enough to see if the lid is even all the way around with the top of the housing? If you can see a part of the lid that is lower than the rest, I'd start working at that point to get it free.

You will get thru this

I am with Kerry on this one. I have had the lid some jamb on the studs, but pulled pushed it straight, then off.

I would be very very very careful hitting the cover or housing with a mallet. Nothing else, as I can see the cover being fractured. I might be too cautious, but better safe...

This operation has been undertaken by others, millions of times in changing oil. You can get thru this as well.

Good Luck with the concrete cleanup. I use engine cleaner, let sit, and scrub with hot water.

gary

BTW, my first oil change in MB, a 75 240D, I dumped all oil, had the filter housing on cocked. Changed oil again, made sure housing was in recess and never looked back. Never forgot either.

Good Laugh that the Leftist Hollywood Loons will show up, They do not know, now care where KS is located. For me, it was the birthplace of my 1956 C182.

Could heat have warped things? Maybe additional heat will loosen things up a bit? Borrower your sister's hairdryer and see if that'll loosen it up a bit? Just some un-informed thoughts....

I thought this may help (hopefully its the right one)

If you could get the studs out as mentioned, you maybe able to tap the head around giving you access to the bolt holes.

Tyler, don't feel bad. I'm sure we all have had similar experiences. When I was 19, I broke the right rear axle on a 1960 Sprite. After being able to pull out only one part of it, as it was completely severed, I was told by some jerk who I believed at the time to remove the left axle and push a broom handle through the differential from the left to the right, thus extracting the broken part of the right axle. Silly me - It took me a couple of days - with the car in the street and a broom sticking out its side - to realize that the differential needed to come out in order to release the now firmly implanted broom plus the broken-off part of the right axle. It seems that excriment happens to all of us. Good luck to you!

#233 in picture (the center bolt), unscrew it first if you have it.

If not the center bolt, I would replace the filter housing out of general principle. And to turn lemon into lemonade; I wouild check my timiing while the filter housing was off. I'm so skeptical of Daimler mechanics that I could believe that it was a trap that only the Daimler mechanic knew about that would blow up on the un-aware or un-informed at the first attempt to change the oil outside of the Daimler dealer's place. Also, you will have to have deep pockets like the previous owner had to have other people work on your Daimler cars. Anyway, don't dispair; it could have been worse, like a run away engine. That is the time to "dispair" if you can't get the Daimler car to shut down quickly enough before it self destructs like in the Mission Impossible movies where the tape goes up in smoke after the message is read. My bet will be that the car is booby trapped and sabotaged, if it is not that center bolt. Believe me, chaning oil is idiot proof because Daimler has people at that level, oil changers.
