Aftermarket Rear Springs for W126?
It seems every w126 "sags" a little in the rear, as if the rear springs are worn..
I'm considering replacing mine-- as well as the rear shocks.. I was wondering if "dual rate" springs were ever built for these.. (part of the spring compresses 'easily' for a decent ride, the rest is a "harder" compression rate, for hard cornering/whatever..) I'd used something like these on my '76 Ranchero's front end-- and was very happy with the result.. Of course the old springs were sorrowfully worn, from toting a 460/C6 around for 20+ years.. If not-- what are good alternatives to the stock ones, for replacement??

The diff mount goes soft, and you can put real thick shims on top of springs.
I jacked my rear up,then used springs spreaders, been on 2 years, never move. You have to wedge the spring open to install. Two each spring in same location. I have heavy Grandson's and with luggage,I'm at stock level.

Shocks raised the rear on my W123 a good deal.

I had a similar situation with my 83sd. I replaced the springs with "heavy duty" version. I don't remember wher I got them. It took care of the problem.

Before messing with your springs verify that the rear end is actually sagging. Due to the larger opening in the front the car will look like the rear is sitting low even when it is perfectly level.
That being said, my rear springs actually are worn. Especially if you put any weight in the trunk. I've got all of Moog's specs and project #2,349 is to get the spring measurements and cross reference a replacement. I've spent some time searching and I haven't found a stronger replacement that will not ruin the ride and look. |

I dunno about the 126 but the W123 had like 8 spring combos. Check the FSM? You can always go with SLS.
Did you know 4 way SLS was an option on the W126? No springs!
