They won't bend as they're loaded in tension. That's why they can be so long and skinny. It's got a wonder power/weight ratio, and the modularity is awesome too.

Not sure if you're joking or not, but 'Junkers' is a reference to the airplane that used a diesel engine like the Fairbanks-Morse with opposing pistons and two cranks.
