What's my 85' 300D worth?
May be time to sell my beloved 85' sedan. I really want a wagon, but don't want to pay the prices they want for a W123 in good shape.
The specs: I purchased it a little over a year ago. Technically it's had 2 owners before me, but it was really owned by one person. They donated it to their church for them to use, but they didn't like the clackety diesel so they never used it. 120k miles. It had a slipping ODO when I got it, and was one of the first things I repaired. Based on the condition, i'd say the mileage is pretty close. Looks like it has been in 1 accident, but it was either a very minor one, or they did an excellent job repairing it. I don't see any broken clips or bend brackets. The front fenders, hood and front doors were painted at that time. It has one large soccer ball size dent in the rear quarter panel. Looks like someone backed into it. Rest of the paint is in fair condition. No rust on the body. Things i've done/replaced in the time i've had it. New Monark injectors. (complete injectors) New motor mounts New trans mount New water pump New fan blower motor (odd issue with it, had to be ordered as a SD motor, but the part number was identical. The new motor is 1/2" longer than the old one, so the housing has to sit lower to fit) Resolder the ACC unit. Works great Fix slipping ODO Timed the IP using the A-B light Checked timing chain stretch Adjusted valves twice Flush coolant with zerex g-05 Gets around 21mpg on B100 Dark blue metallic paint with dark blue interior. Interior is in good shape, dash has about 3 1/2" long cracks. I tried to protect it best I could with 303 protectant. Only other issue is the A/C compressor. I don't know it it's supposed to make noise with this style compressor, but it sounds like a ball bearing in a tin can. Still works and cools well on R-12. I'll get some pics when the weather is better

Not good.
It seems to be difficult to sell these things unless they're near perfect. I had to settle for $2750 for my very, very nice 83 300D, its only issue was no AC. The Don had to practically give away his 300D for $1100.00 which had paint and body issues, and with no AC. My guess would be somewhere in between those two, but photos will paint a better picture.

Here in Soujth Fla a 300 D is going for $1500-$2000 even with working air and minor cosmetic damage.
However -it is worth whatever someone will pay for it |

Yep, I'm holding on to Smash and actually using him as my daily driver until the economy picks back up. I can't say I'm too upset because he runs and drives pretty flawlessly, and it gives me a good excuse to tell the wife......
{if only he wasn't such a homely creature} Getting rid of Bundts will help me feel better about him visually.
