Actually in ebay.motors it says
Free to list your vehicle*

http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/m...otors_List.gif • List up to 4 vehicles with no Insertion Fees
• Only pay $125 if you're successful
• Turn your car into cash

* Excluding feature fees

Insertion Fees Cut Dramatically
http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/m...images/pix.gif
eBay Motors is eliminating Insertion Fees on the first four vehicles you list in a 12 month period. For a car or truck, this amounts to an upfront savings of $40 per listing compared with the old pricing plan. Starting with the fifth vehicle you list, the Insertion Fee is $20 (a savings of 50% compared with the old plan).

After 12 months, the counter resets and you get another four vehicle listings with zero Insertion Fees.
http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/m...images/pix.gif

Only Pay if You Are Successful
http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/m...images/pix.gif
A successful listing is defined as any one of the following:
  • The listing ends with a bid greater than reserve
  • A bid is placed on a no reserve auction-style listing
  • A buyer clicks and confirms the Buy-it-Now button
  • The seller accepts a submitted Best Offer
When one of these events occurs, eBay will charge the seller a Successful Listing Fee. In short, we only succeed when you succeed.

Also note, the Successful Listing Fee varies with the type of vehicle. Like the Insertion Fee, the amount charged depends on how many vehicles you list in a 12-month period. For example, with Cars & Trucks, the Successful Listing Fee on the first four vehicles is $125. After the first four listings, the fee drops to $100.

$0.15 is for other things . . . not cars . . .

So it looks like you can still get charged if a deadbeat backs out of the deal after winning.

Yup! that's the way ebay makes money!

I'll pass on the "Valuable Rare 300" and let someone else scoop it up!

lutzTD 04-21-2009 08:45 PM

I just looked at a very nice 79 300CD. I was getting very excited when I rolled up, but I could see light through the floor on the driver side. Deal breaker............No matter how good the rest was, its not worth $500 he was asking to me. as a parts car maybe, but who has time to part a whole car just to get my $500 back?

Icefire 04-21-2009 11:40 PM

I dont know what you guys are *****ing about, If that car was closer I'd gladly pay the current price for it. $800... It has euro lights on it worth about 200, plus its apparenlty rust free. Sure it needs some work but heck we are all about projects on this forum. Restored it could be worth 4.5K.

dariod 04-21-2009 11:50 PM

Don't like it don't buy it simple.

tonkovich 04-21-2009 11:52 PM

uh, someone actually bid on this car?

a2t 04-21-2009 11:58 PM

off by at least 1 decimal place. maybe 2. easy.

jwhughes3 04-22-2009 12:35 AM

JUST A GOOD WAX JOB...

"Paint is in pretty good shape-a good wax and buff would really bring it
back. "

Riiiightttt!

haha

Second that.
It's impossible to judge from the pics what condition that car is in. If the mechanicals are good and body has no rust it would be a good project. Bet even that paint would look nice with a little buffing, appears just dirty and a bit dull.

Actually 3 people bid 11 times! an actual bidding war!

vstech 04-22-2009 08:58 AM

the 79 is a better car choice than the 78/77, but not a fantastic vehicle. even if the no rust, buffable paint, and mileage is true, it's not a 4500.00 car. now, 800 with new tires? sure, that's a good deal. I'd love to have a CD, just not a non turbo...

Oracle12345 04-22-2009 10:14 AM

holy crap is that fo real????

i paid $700 for my 77 and mine looks 100x better than that. the 77 is not a bad car. Besides the autotemp II which i got rid of, its good.

Sorry looking at your sig I didnt see a 300 CD, look at my sig, Im well aware of the values of 300D's they are about 1/2 to 2/3 the value of CD or TD. So what if the car needs paint, if it needs some mechanical work as well. Its still got euro lights and its a coupe that is reported as rust free. If that car was closer I'd have bought it already.

chasinthesun 04-22-2009 11:20 AM

Buying a car thats non driver you need to expect it to have some issues other than condition ,if its not running then a new set of glows is a start.Tires are probably shot.Shipping it to your home ,$1.50 per mile.$810 plus $1200. Just a little over $2000. then you can drive while you repair it.Buy a driver with good paint and interior , Youll be richer and happier. If you live close then go for it.

Oracle12345 04-22-2009 11:21 AM

i would have to look at the car more closer. it has the potential to be a good car with money and time. however as it is know on ebay sellers exaggerate the condition of the car to sell it. since it has been sitting I would imagine there is some rust on it to fix. if you are close to the car and have the money and time to make it good then go for it but if you are far away then no
