AUX fan transplant W126
Is it possible to transfer an AUX fan assembly from the later W126 to the earlier W126? Getting kinda hot here in LA.
The 2 small auxiliary fans look to spread cooling more effectively than the 1 big fan on my 1987. I am hesitant because it might not be the same electrical capacities or something like that... Anyone do this kind of transplant? |

You already have the big fan on the '87. It's prior to '86 with the 617 that has the smaller fan.
I'm not sure that switching to the twin fans will do any better than the big single. |

You can add another relay for the second fan if you are hesitant about the electrical capacities. Im not familiar with the w126s and i havent seen a w126 with twin fans in the junk yards here. I transplanted a w124 twin fan to a w123 and had to use another relay for the second fan.

my fan does not work. will replacing it make my AC cool in the city like it does on the highway? Does the fan move as much air as highway speeds? Kinda a dumb question I know.

The lack of any fan will cause a huge pressure rise in the system and the compressor must work very hard to overcome it. |

The double small fans and their ducting cover a larger area of the condenser then the single large fan. They really move a lot of air on high speed.
