Neutral saftey switch replacement

My reverse lights stopped working on my W123. I already bought a new switch, so now its time to replace it. Is it a simple straight forward job, anything I should know? Thanks

I was under there yesterday when I was doing some other things. It does not look too bad.

Were you having intermittent starting problems too? Or just the reverse light thing?

nope it starts fine but my reverse lights don't work everytime. If I slam it in R they will work but I just put it in R they won't.

There's not much room under there, but it can be done on your back and no special tools are needed. A slight adjustment could fix the problem. If not - I don't remember if you can open the switch to clean the contacts - the new switch will solve the problem. You may have to adjust it a little after installation.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe blow some MAF cleaner through the switch? Or pull the plug, clean the contacts and re-seat.

Mine looks like it is riveted together.
