1974 240d alternator question

My car isn't charging the battery so I checked the alternator wires and one of the wires that goes to the plug that plugs into the alternator is broken. I tried to pull out the metal tab from the plug to reattach the wire but couldn't get it out. Does it come out? Can I buy a plug somwhere and rewire it?
Thanks in advance for the help.

If it's like the one on my '71, the back cover of the connector comes off and then you can disassemble the metal part from the plastic, solder it to the wire, and put it back together. At least that's what I think I did. This happened about six months ago.
