Here ya go, I doubt you'll need special tools. When I looked at mine it was a pretty simple setup, much like any auto drum brake systems.

Have you actually READ what you have posted directed at me in other current threads ? I was not anywhere around when you got those 2 infractions...so perhaps this is evidence of ' projection' on your part....

I have never made a post which had the sole reason of directly insulting somebody like you just did. Please delete it.
I have no infractions active. In fact showing how many infractions a person has is not right. I'll contact the admin to have that data not publically displayed.

no special tools are needed- if you have ever done drum brakes before you'll figure it out. I may have used my brake tool- I dont recall- but no over priced tools with the three pointed star on them are required.

I was referring to the tools to replace the shoes.

MB 116 589 01 62 00 Remover and installer for return spring and
MB 112 589 09 61 00 Installation tool for draw spring

look basically like hooks. Is that a common tool at the auto parts store?

I was looking at this this afternoon...
I have done a lot of brake jobs...and those spring installation tools are the cats meow.
But the one for the MB I do not think is the same as you would find generically in an auto parts store because it shows it being used through the hub.... usually it would be an open situation on normal car regular shoe brakes. So more investigation is needed...

I tested my emergency brake today while going about 50 mph and slowly put it to the floor. The car came to a stop but it seem to be really slow.

Should the e-brake lock up the back wheels when you get the pedal all the way down?

no way those little shoes will lock the back wheels. they may call it an emergency brake, but it's really a parking brake. i would not test it that way.
very easy to change the parking shoes. special tools are helpful but not needed.

E-brake on a volvo 240 will lock up the rears, similar size & geometry to a 123 car. I'll have to try mine sometime.
