The OVP on these cars are notorious.

I just spend the $60 and replace them if there's any question. If it doesn't change the symptoms, I've gained a spare for something that will fail.

Is the OVP probably OK if the A/C works fine but the Tach does not work? This is my situation. My cruise control is out too.

Cruise out with something else is likely a coincidence, the cruise is often out on the older cars (what year and model?). Tachometer could be the crank position sensor.

Well I have a 93 300D. I am patiently waiting for my maintenance manual to arrive so that I can then start diagnosing my problems.

Can you explain how you jumped the relay in a little more detail? I've had the same issue, but ruled out the OVP as the fuse was not blown. I currently have the KLIMA bypassed to get my AC to work, but that's not a solution.

Thanks for searching for that, but those all seem to be people posting about 90s era gassers. I was under the assumption that the OVP in the early 80s diesels had little or nothing to do with ignition and injection. Their test in those threads is to attempt to start the engine a certain way. This will not work on my car. How did the original poster in this thread test his?
