That primary filter will always be about 1/2 - 1/3 full of air.

That is what I see. The filter is always 1/2 full of air no matter how much I purge it.

That means that air is flowing into the filter, and it is flowing out of the filter into the injector lines. So, you can bleed the lines all you want and air will always come back because it is dissolved in the fuel.

Right after bleeding the lines and filter my engine starts and runs line a dream.

I need to get rid of that air.

Thanks to all for your input. Here are some further observations that I can share with the group. As to there being small air bubbles in the fuel, I tend to agree with this as being a cause for the extra noise upon recent repair to the system.

I guess once you open it up particularly at the IP, lines or Injectors there is a chance that air pocket develop and it takes a while (500 miles of running) as many have suggested to work its way out of the fuel system. I had found that my #6 return hose had a slight leak to it, although new, I'm sure that in tightening the fuel line to the injector, my spanner must have whacked the return line just enough to cause a leak. Promptly replaced that and then took the car for a 300 mile round trip test drive to Key West :) strictly for diagositic purposes :P
Well after that the clacking went away more or less, I can barely hear it now. Whatever is left may likely be in the injectors. I'll run another can of purge through it and see if that helps otherwise I'll check the injectors for spray pattern again.
