Found a good substitute for removed Resonators

Couple of months ago I removed the Resonators. The one of drivers side was rattling on the inside. Since then I was not happy with the higher noise while driving highways. It got annoying to me and my Wife said it was loud too.

So, I had my muffler guy order and install what is called Turbo Tube. He order a 12 inch one and installed it towards the forward end of the Tunnel.

I believe it was 2-3/4" diameter.

It is much better and more quieter. Cost me $40 total. Runs same.

Do you have any pictures of that? Did you remove the muffler at the rear of the car too?

I removed the rear muffler and installed a straight pipe from the oval muffler under the floor back. It sounds good at idle and around town. But anything over 70 is pretty loud. I'm wondering if that would work for me...

No I had not removed the rear muffler. I did not take pictures. These little things called Turbo Tubes do a good job. I never thought it would do much but it did. I have no idea who makes them but they are cheap enough to try. You could use a longer one in the back. They come in all sizes I imagine. Any good muffler shop should have experience and can lead you to choices. I'm leaving my rear muffler on with turbo tube in the Tunnel. It's finally what I want. Darn Resonators were a pain in the you know what.

The 2-3/4 diameter is the diameter of the pipe there not the tube.

The TT is like 4 inch diamter but I never measured it. He felt an 18" L would not fit there due to the angle and less clearance at forward end of tunnel.

The 12" long one worked fine.

No banging around either.

I guess technology is much improved in sound deadening but it's a bit of an art too I guess.

This little thing only 12 inches long has lots of stuff inside it. I was pretty surprised to see that. I remember dimples on the inside and some baffles. You could not see through it.

Here's what I had the muffler folks do. I was able to use the stock hanger points too.
