Idle Issues 87 30DT

Hi Guys, So basically my car (87 300DT) will start off at a low idle arorund 600 rpm then the rpm will start jumping like it goes from 600 to 800 back to 600 then back to 800 or 700. Does anyone have the same problem, and how can i fix it?

Thanks!

-Shant

Somewhat common on the 603 ... at least mine does it occasionally, and a lot of people have experienced it. Generally it's an EDS issue ... it could be the OVP or the idle actuator (pretty sure that's what it's called) on the back of the IP. I'd have to brush up on the test procedure as it's been a while since I looked into it ... I have the printout at home but can't help from here at work. Maybe someone else can chime in.

If it is not this, it could be a shut off valve on it's way out. The lever on mine likes to sit a bit low, and sometimes rocks up and down. If I manually raise it up, the idle sounds like it goes up a little bit. Worth taking a look at! But more likely, it is an intermittant ELR.
