Need help with oil pressure gauge sensing line leak.

1983 240D. Found a leak (after it soaked the floor mat and everything under the dash) on the oil pressure gauge line. The fitting at the back of the gauge was very slightly loose, so I tightened it and left the under-dash panels off for observation. I also wiped the wiring and other stuff down as best I could.
Now, after driving it for a couple of weeks, the fitting is dry and the line appears dry but I still have the occasional drip from the steering column connection and another place to the left of the column near the firewall.
My question is: Can this be oil from the original leak that is migrating to the low points and then dripping? Anybody experience this?
TIA,
Chuck.

I think it could be left over oil from the original leak migrating to a low spot, accumulating and dripping.

Most likely you have a leak in the gage mechanism itself. This is a bourdon tube type gage and the tube has a leak. The only real fix is to replace the gage, you can get a used instrument panel and replace all the gages or you can replace the gage element itself, but you will have to remove the pointer in order to do that.

Thanks for the replies.
I looked at it again really well and the gauge itself was dry and the fitting and line were dry. So it just appears that the oil is leftover from when it was actually leaking. I cleaned things up and put it all back together and will watch the white rag I have positioned down below.
That crap doesn't do your shoes any good at all.
