Not to go off-topic, but I have been informed that RX7's inject oil while cold, essentially making them 2-strokes?

I'm surprised no one's posted a pic of a clogged TDI "EGR" where it's supposed to burn off the soot but instead it builds up...

Only in theory since it has no valves. In all actuality it has 5 distinct "phases" rather than strokes.
It needs the oil to lubricate the internal rotor seals otherwise it would run dry and destroy the seals.

Give me diesel exhaust over the crap that comes out of gas engines any day. If the diesel is running correctly, it should be fine. Smelling gas to me is like smelling smoke after you quit..it's gross!
And you know what is so bloody fantastic about all these hi-dollar hybrid POS rubbermaid cars? These terrific batterys they use, are actually, very hazardous to mother earth, last like 5 years? and to make them, uses enough energy and resource than they save buy using them. Another huge steaming pile of WTF

Maybe then we should dump all the hybrid batterys in Al Gore's lawn

Skippy~ As for perception: Drive what you like and can afford. Those who don't like it can supply vacuum to one of your components. LOL

I'll talk to the guy tomorrow, he said that on his race engine he had blocked off the oil squirters to keep the engine cleaner, albeit a longer warmup time

my 98 VW TDI showed a fair amount of soot on the white paint after a while. Loved that car, but being the first year of the new beetle, it had some BS issues with interior stuff

I think is should be called "tour egg" At least that is how it sounds to me. Spelling would be easier.

My question still stands...if the TDI is "cleaner", then why does our '06 Jetta TDI get the sooty bumper and my w123 does not?

Aerodynamics mostly. The VW's must have a low pressure area behind them, while the Mercedes have turbulent flow, pulling the soot away from the bumper.

A MB running on biodiesel would likely put out little to no soot at all. So its the fuel that is dirty, not the engine.
