Replacing Shifter in '82 300 TD Wagon. How?
I got a cool new Zebrano Wood shifter for my car. Does anyone know exactly how I would get at the hex nut that holds the shifter in place? Do I need to remove the console, or can I just sort of pop the area surrounding the shifter off of the wood and get to it that way.
Thanks in advance. |

The best way to get at the nut, is to remove the ashtray, then remove the 2 screws that hold the metal frame for the tray in. Lift it out then the wood consol will slide to the rear a bit and lift up. you will be able to come in from the side with a wrench, think it is a 15mm.

The automatic shifter knob isn't removable like the manual shifter knob. It's pressed onto the shaft.
