Thats most likely true. Some form of funny pretend money rather than CASH/CHECK in hand.

I don't think our cars qualify...I read earlier that you have to get less than 18mpg average. I am thinking of buying a really cheap piece of crap, then trading it in for a TDI. Take the trade money, along with the tax discount for buying a "green" car, could make a pretty decent deal.

You can fight with the dealer about that. That's how I got my Saab for so cheap. I had employee pricing from my grandpa, and after a bunch of BS, I got a steal of a deal. You just have to play your cards right.

I'm sure the incentive would only apply toward the purchase of a "big" three US auto.

In that case, just give me the $4,500.00 IN CASH, since he's so confident of the program. LOL!

People, its up to $4500. If its a $100 junker Buick you'll probably be lucky to get a $1000 voucher.

The instant you drive your newly purchased car off the dealer's lot, that $4500 is gone through depreciation.

I think to be politically correct the incentive must be blind to the brand of car being purchased.

The monthly sales numbers should get interesting now that Chrysler has actually declared bankruptcy and GM (in my opinion) is likely to do the same thing just to conveniently wipe away debt.

I wonder exactly what Fiat thinks they are buying?

That "Up To" is the gotcha. $0.01 is "Up To".

I have seen more of the "smart for two" cars on the road. If only they would bring the diesel version over.
