Advice: Replacing Aux. Cooling fans W124
They aren't working-need new ones. Question: can I replace them by un-clipping the top radiator clips and tilting the radiator back to gain clearance for the top bolt and fans? This is what they reccommend over on the w124 gasser forum. Can this be done on my '95 E300D? Or must I remove the bumper, headlight, etc. etc.? Anyone ever done this job?
Thanks for any tips. |

Well...
Are they not working because the Fans are Bad (As you suspect)?
[What diagnostic regimen have you performed?] 'Absolutely the Worst day you can have is to RePlace something that's not Bad! Arthur Dalton has all sorts of simple "Tests" he has people perform to see what is actually Bad! Do an Advanced Search under his name and list "Auxiliary Fans". AND you'll get something just like this: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/search.php?searchid=3997330 OR Go Totally Crazy and "Search" auxiliary fans...

I have replace the fans. It's pretty straight forward. If you've got a 12V source you can unplug the fans and check to see they work directly. They come right out the front. The only thing that comes off in the front is the horn mount.
