Ding in precamber ball, 617

On my #6 pre chamber, there is a shallow ding about the size of a bb on the ball. There is a definite nailing sound coming from this cylinder along with a slight lope, that goes away when the injector is loosened. I am guessing the ding possibly happened when the glowplug (Since replaced) dropped a piece of its tip. Is a tiny ding enough to cause the cylinder to nail? I poked the ding with a piece of wire and it felt pretty rough. I know the pre chamber ball is supposed to have a smooth surface to help atomize the fuel right?
I would appreciate any input.

Thanks

Rory

A ding in the ball is not going to cause nailing in the cylinder. You'd get a bit concerned if the entire ball has fallen into the bottom of the prechamber..................

I agree, a ding on the ball shouldn't be a problem, but whatever caused that ding may have also damaged the injector nozzle. Have it checked for spray pattern. If the injector's been damaged that could easily cause your problem.

I think the root of the problem is that you have 6 prechambers in a 617

I didn't catch that one.
I thought he was talking about a 603.

hahaha oops! I guess working on my slant six is getting to my head. I suspected that the injector was bad and swapped it out with a good one and it changed nothing. I also did the delivery valve copper washer and it too changed nothing. Is it possible that a piece of broken glowplug could be clogging one of the holes in the prechamber? This is all happening on the #5 cylinder.

Removing the PC is actually very easy once you have the GP and injector out and you have the tools to do it.
