see my answer above... he has an 85... it's different from all the other years.
Thanks, yes '85's are quite different in many respects.

You dont mess with these guy's!

Just a few weeks ago a good friend of mine got pulled over for a routine vehicle inspection they do here from time to time. They connected a gas analyzer to the exhaust and noticed something wrong...Then they saw that there was a plate under the EGR valve blocking it.An hour or so latter his car was towed to the nearest Air Care facility and was fined 1200.00$ for altering his vehicle under the Anti Pollution act we have here plus his towing fee of 175.00$.

Lesson learned!

A good reason not to mess with plates and to just block the vacuum line.

Or cut up a soda can and put it under the valve.

What did they notice? That they were testing a diesel instead of a g@sser? Unless they had a portable dyno, there would be no way to test for NOx emissions and using g@sser standards will always show high NOx on a Diesel. I'd sue them for their incompetence and refund of the fines.

I disabled the EGR and removed the junk on the valve cover on all of ours too. In fact I even disabled the EGR on my gasser!
