Okay, I'll bite, why?
Point two, I don't think it's a good idea.
But, follow the metal fuel line from under hood, then to under the fuel tank.
Not sure how you're going to send fuel to the IP from the primary filter, the primer. Not an easy task, as you have to deal with the return line.

Bypassing the secondary fuel filter would classify as a NotSmart(TM) idea. Why would you do that? Trying to send extra dirt into the injection system??

The Secondary/Spin-on filter is a 10 Micron filter. Are you putting another filter somewhere in your fuel lines?
If so, some filters work better on the suction side and some work better pressurized. Ask the filter company for specs.

by pass fuel filter

Hi Guys

I heard that the fuel passes through the fuel filter twice Id like to get more miles out of the filter with one pass . I get about 700m out of
my filter this would double it. I use the one system for both diesel
and vo for about 2yrs without any trouble except low mileage on my
filter. I settle my vo for 1 month with heat and than filter it down to
5 mic. The vo is heated in the car also. Thanks Greg

Thats because its doing its job, filtering harmful dirt from the fuel!

The filter should last well over 5,000miles. If you're only getting 700 while abusing the engine with VO, it means you're not prefiltering it nearly enough before putting it in the tank.

I use a 5 micron filter before stock filter, that way my stock one will last and last.

You could be getting polymerization forming somewhere, have you looked inside the tank lately? That stuff can form and turn to muck and quickly clog a filter. How long do your 5 micron filters at home last? If they're clogging up quickly, you might want to do a rough filtering with something like blue jeans first. A cheap additional step like that really makes a difference down the line.

All that being said, if the fuel goes through the car filter once, its not going to clog the filter more by passing through it again unless its getting dirty somewhere within the fuel system.

The best way to accomplish what you're trying to do is set up a "controlled loop" return. I put it in quotes because that's what the frybrid people call it. Its a setup where the return is looped back into the fuel system, post-filter, during normal operation, and when you purge, a valve switches and the fuel is returned to the tank. That eases the load on the filter and keeps the hot fuel circling through the fuel system instead of dumping it back in the tank. Although it sounds like you're running a single tank setup, in which case you should just stock up on filters

Sounds like cold oil is clogging the filter. Do you filter heated oil at home? I have ran a lot of VO, do it right, and it is ok. Single tank will give you all kinds of problems.
I agree, if the filter is clogging, why bypass it? then all of that gets to the engine, which is much more $$ than a cheapo filter.

Comments:
Only a tiny amout of the Fuel that passes throught your Fuel Injection Pump gets injected into the Engine.
The larger volume of Fuel passes out of your Fuel Injection Pump (taking heat from the Fuel Injection Pump with it) Housing and eventually returns to your tank.
This means that as your drive and time passes all of the Fuel inside of your tank gets recirculated through the filters and Fuel Injection Pump over and over; with the exception of the amount that is injected and burned in the Engine.

Another option might be just to get a larger fuel filter (10 Micron diesel fuel filters are very common); like the Big Rigs use. Mount it somewhere else in the Engine compartment.
