Muffler Hangers

I have had a bad run of after-market muffler hangers (107 492 00 82) that have failed much too soon (< 1 year). I have located a new after-market source which offers a hard version (shore = 63) and a soft version (shore = 55). Which version would last longer? Does anyone have a source of long lasting muffler hangers other that OEM Mercedes?

Also, has any used the reinforced version (107 492 00 44)? They look like they might be a pain to install.

Thanks.

I've had bad ones before as well when I had my 85 300D. I nearly lost my exhaust system once. I'd like to know where to get some good ones too when the time time comes on my current "fleet".

Why don't you just buy the OE hangers? Mine have been holding up fine over the past 4 years. No cracking or anything.

Thanks.

For muffler hangars, for the W126 body, forget aftermarket and OEM ones.

A few years ago I went through a bunch of replacements and dropped exhausts.

Buy the R107 560SL exhaust hangars. Unlike all the rest, they have steel reinforcements inside of them. And they fit *perfect*.

This should solve the problem.

Pick-N-Pull, but their quality control isn`t what it use to be.

I think the last batch I bought from Dr. Phill. Don`t know if hard or soft ones.
I have had a few break in the last year. about a month ago I had one laying on the ground.

Yep, I'm using those on my car. They were a pain to install, but they have held on really well. At $6.30 a piece from the dealer I should hope they last a while.

Thank you. That was on my 300D. My 240 has the normal donuts and it seems like one is popping off or breaking every few months.
