Which oil cooler hose is the feed to the cooler?

Which oil cooler hose is the "feed" to the cooler, and which is the return hose? Upper hose or lower hose coming off the oil filter housing?

It's a 1983 300TD.

Thanks!

Other than for the purpose of fitting the Hoses in a place that there is room for them I do not think the cooler itself cares which why the Oil Flows.
Letter "A" is the Oil going out of the Oil Filter Housing (Hot Oil) and to the Oil Cooler and "B" is the Oil comming (cooled Oil) back from the Oil Cooler and going into the Oil Filter Housing

Lower fitting on the oil filter housing, goes to the bottom of the oil cooler.
flows from bottom up.
