Rear Brake Calipers for 1982 300 TDT Wagon?
I need to replace the left rear brake caliper on my '82 300 TD Wagon. I have read on the internet that the rear brake caliper for the wagon is different than the sedan and it costs about $300 per caliper. It looks like a standard brake caliper, I don't see anything that would make it any different. Does anyone know what the difference is, or if it really matters?

My search finds the same thing, don't know why it's different.

the TD caliper is a slightly larger bore. to aid braking with a heavier load than the sedan could have.
if you go with sedan caliper, replace BOTH of the rear calipers. I would attempt to rebuild yours in this case... if not destroyed with rust. |
Had the same question a while back, and yes, the wagon caliper is different.
A sedan caliper will fit, but I found the correct wagon caliper rebuilt at napa for $80 each. They're working great, and the rebuild did look like good quality. But if you want the best possible price, you could find a couple used sedan calipers real cheap and put them on yourself. Don't do just one side as vstech mentioned. |
