'85 rear axle into 81 benz - how hard?

What about the transfer of an '85 engine (turbo) to an '81 car?(non-turbo)

How hard would these swaps be. ie will the '85 engine mate to the '81 tranny and car?

pretty straightfoward

but on second thought you might want to hook the turbo motor to a turbo tranny.

I understand (in theory-never done it) that the gearing of the '85 will slow things down off the line....

What about the '85 engine to the '81 car/tranny?

Lol....I doubt it. We're currently putting a 2.47 diff into a former 3.07 car....we'll see how that turns out!

Edit: Didn't realize it was a non-turbo. A 220 would probably have no issue passing a N/A with a 2.88!

Both are bolt in with very little modification. You should swap in both the engine and diff. The 81 does not have enough torque to use the 2.88 efficiently and the 85 will be revving very high on the highway with the 81's 3.46.

Whats the starting torque between 617.91x and 617.95x?

About the same, moving is what I meant. 5psi of boost on the highway at 65mph makes a significant difference.
