81 240D Fuel Gauge Issue

When there is about 1/2 tank left in my 81 240D the fuel gauge starts to bounce around from E back to 1/2 tank. When the tank is full it doesn't do this.

Should I check the connections to the sender unit? If so, where is it on the 123?

You should clean the sender. Search and you'll find detailed guide for it.

The sender is underneath the first aid kit.
