Remove Fiberglass from glasspack?

I'm going to be installing a glasspack on my 82 300d. Thee current straight pipe is annoying on the highway.

From searches I've done, people recommend to pull the fiberglass packing because it will be rendered useless by soot anyways. Will hollowing it out (but leaving the perforated center) still dampen my exhaust?

Don't even bother. It will quickly get packed with soot and become a straight pipe so its not worth the effort.

Find a stock exhaust and remove the rear muffler or splice a stock resonator into your current exhaust.
