fuel tank leak, 300SDL
I noticed the other day as I was leaving the fueling station that there was a small wet spot under the rear of the car.. Further inspection shows that the braided fuel line is leaking, maybe from where it is coupled to the nut/fitting that goes into the fuel tank.
seeings how it is 20 odd years old, I figured I would replace both... anyone got some suggestions on how to do this??? and where in the fastlane catalog do I find a pre-made, fitted fuel line such as is on the car right now? I see braided line, and plenty of it, but none with a threaded end on it...

While you are under there
I never worked on a SDL, however the exit hose is very similiar to that of the 300D,
My suggestion is that if it has a tank screen that it threads into, you might wish to remove that and verify it is clean. If I was under there and full of diesel, a little more is not so bad. If this is not the case on the SDL, I stand corrected, and possibly flamed.. Good Luck,

Also, check your tank vent; bell shaped end of rubber near the driver's side rear wheel.
OH...and that reminds me. I have a good intact fuel tank sitting on the 300SDL parts car.

Cessna:
Ok, I have a good idea as to what needs to be done... in fact I do have an exit hose from a 240D that is in good shape, what are the chances that it would fit?? and am I really willing to take a bath in diesel fuel twice? maybe not... guess I can start by draining some fuel out of the tank.. otherwise it will be probably get lost in the process. Daw_two: will go about finding the tank vent to check, as there was a fair amount of pressure in the tank earlier today.. do they get plugged up?

Quote:
The tank vent can indeed become clogged --- dirt\oil\grease\more dirt.
