300SD odometer
My 1982 300SD suffers from the odo failure due to gear failure.
Do all W126 odometers suffer from this eventual gear failure, or did MB figure it out and some later years are OK?

odometergears.com
EDIT: Almost all recent Mercedes (1948 on) suffer this malady
It was/is a VDO problem... [Bad/Hard enough getting Stuttgart to admit/fix their own mistakes... Impossible to get Stuttgart to fix someone else' s] You might get lucky @ the ReCycler's and find one with a few more miles left. 'Replacing the gears is/are a nice weekend project... (If you can tie the S.O. up in the closet) (AND/OR send the Rug Rats and Animal Companions off to G'Ma's) You will not wish for any distractions. http://www.odometergears.com/

Thanks for the reply. I know about odometer gears.com. I was only wondering if some later W126 versions had resolved the problem so that a recycled one was a viable option. Sounds like the odogears.com is the only real fix.
