W123 Window Switches

The window switch for my driver's door window suddnely started acting weird. Instead of having its normal "snap" action, it started feeling really stiff. It went from normal, to stiff, to non-functional in about 2 days/half a dozen uses.

Pulled it out, removed the switch top assembly and the springs/detent balls/contacts were all rusty and covered with crusty grease. I cleaned them all up nicely, re-lubed them, and put the switch back together and... NO CHANGE. Hmmmn, that seemed strange.

So I took it apart, cleaned on it some more, and put it back together. Still no-worky. After doing this about 3 or 4 times, I disassembled the one for the back window and swapped all the internal pieces from it to the front switch and vice-versa. Now the front one works fine, but the back one is stiff and inoperable.

Anybody got one of the switch assemblies for the driver's side? Mine has the front and rear window switches separated by the on/off button that enables the joystick control for the PS mirror (all 3 integrated into one assembly). So, ideally I'd like to get the entire assembly, though worst case I could use just the internals from another single switch the same size and style to fix mine.

If you have one, please PM me and let me know how much you'd want for it and the zip code it would be shipping from (so I can calculate shipping).

Thanks...

Sorry I haven't answered before now. Been on a business trip.

I most certainly will be at the GTG. Look forward to meeting you there Charlie. Bring along your switches and we'll work something out.

The switches are already in the trunk I was out in the barn sorting through the junk pile, ER I mean treasure assortment, and they bubbled to the surface.

We will see you at the GTG, so far everything is a go. Just have to polish the rust and pealy clear coat, got to get her all purdied up.
fix the sun roof, fog lights, find some front 240D springs and compressor, fix the sun visor mirror and overhead panel, Diff mount, shifter bushings and...and...

It will be good to put some faces on these online handles.

Charlie
