What is up with ebay? (random w124 wagon)

So I went to go look at this wagon. Slight rust, various issues not mentioned in the ad, etc. Not that surprising. At least the head seemed ok.

The crazy part is how ebayers are going ga-ga over this thing, with 90+ watchers according to him (the bid was at 2200 but apparently someone retracted). And here's the kicker: none of them have actually seen it in person! Yep, I asked. How can you bid on a car you haven't seen before??? The ebay ad makes it look alot better than it actually is, do people not keep that in mind or something? I've heard people complain about raw deals they got on ebay cars, now that I think about it they probably did the same thing.

Meh, I guess I'm just annoyed at how, because of this, ebay is apparently useless for finding wagons. Back to craigslist it is then.

I love this line from his ad, " I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THING THAT I HAVE NOT MENTIONED."
I'm gonna start using that line in daily life! :P:P
His Buy It Now price is not totally out of line based on what '87 Diesel MB wagons have sold for in the past. It isn't a cream puff certainly, but it isn't chopped liver either.
I wouldn't sell Smash for what he is asking for that wagon......;)

I like the headlight wiper position, both full up.
That's what I've done with my car.
I think that alone adds $500 in value.

Ha! " THE PRIOR OWNER PUT A CHOKE UNDER THE DASH" ?
hmmmm, what else does he NOT know about that car?:rolleyes2

I must have sold my twin wagon too cheap, though it did have more rust. :( I was in a hurry to buy something else, though. I'm surprised someone hasn't bought the thing outright yet. These wagons bring insane amounts of money.

Alot, he never used it. It was a pretty neat looking choke, tied to the stop lever and all, but if you're going to go through trouble why not just replace the shutoff valve?

The guy kinda capped himself pricewise. But people were calling up to buy it when the bid got high, they probably changed their mind when it got low again.

The red interior is a put off for me, Grey color is OK for me, but not my wife. Nice appearance otherwise.

I like that the second rear window must have failed as he wrote the ad. Initially it was one, but later states BOTH rear winds inoperative...
Where do you install a second tank for WVO in a wagon...Smell ya later !!!

I need to find the CL ad in NE Pa, for three (3) 1983 wagons, all for $900. Bring your rolllback, trailer, and hitch.
