Are the tops of the rear shocks under the back seat or in the trunk? Is it a difficult job to replace these?

They are behind two covers located behind the rear seat. You need to remove the whole seat and then the two (white) plastic covers.

Not very difficult to replace.

You'll find them mounted to the lower control arms connected to the rear wheels. Most seats and trunks do fine without shocks these days.
