'72 220D air pump

Hi - new to the site. Purchased a 1972 220D and am still trying to kill a couple of gremlins. The car smoked bad but think I have found problem, I pulled off vacuum tube off intake while running and me and the all white mercedes took an oil bath. Have rebuilt pump with new valves and diaphram kit and as for putting it back on was wondering if anyone knew if I use gasket sealer?

If used properly and sparingly, its never a bad thing when a tight seal is needed.

The only place sealer is supposed to be used is on the upper oil pan to the engine block.

Clean both mating surfaces and sealer is unnecessary. The sealer that gets squeezed out will contaminate the engine oil and plug the oil pump suction tube.
