Name that Part
This came in the spare parts bin with my newly acquired W116. It is new, but has no part number on it that I can tell. Anybody know what it is?

Looks like a transmission vacuum modulator to me.

I had originally thought that also, but there is no fitting for a vac line

My guess is either a coolant temp sensor or boost pressure sensor.
EDIT: Cool keychain

It's a squiddley-spoodge! Actually, I have no idea, either and I am a W116 guy. It looks like something that would go under the dashboard.

I haven`t seen one like that, but first thought was a oil pressure sender.
Some type of pressure sender for sure. charlie

Definitely an oil pressure sender. I just replaced one on an 82 SD, but it should fit many years/models. Screws into the back of the base of the oil filter housing. (Be sure to use teflon tape.)

Yes without a doubt it is an oil pressure sensor. I have a couple including one left over from an 87 300D.

My vote is for an oil pressure sender. I've been trying to figure out where to plug in for an oil by-pass filter, so I had my pressure sender out - that sure looks like what I have.
