limited slip differential?

I know my 85' 300D doesn't have a limited, but I am wondering if anyone knows a way, or if it's even possible, to get and install an new differential or gearset that will my make it a limited. I don't care if it's OE OEM or aftermarket, but obviousely would prefer an OE/OEM option. I'm pretty sure limiteds were options on 86'+ w126 models and would really like the added traction for the comming winters; as it is hilly in PA no matter how good of a driver you are.

TIA

I don't think any 126 came with a limited slip differential. I believe ASR or whatever that snowflake button engages uses the ABS system to effect traction control.

Check out www.quaife.co.uk. Better than any mechanical LSD.

The 560 SEL was the only 126 in the 86+ cars to have a limited slip diff. Maybe the 500SEL has it???? Does anyone know?

The W123 chasssis uses a 185MM ring gear, & the W126 chassis car uses a 210MM ring gear so this swap can't happen. The only US car with limited slip & 185 MM ring gear was the 190E 2.3 16V. When I was autocrossing a 1981 280E(W123) I installed a 3.69(240D)with the 16V limited slip(carrier) & boy was that an improvement. Took a bit of work as it isn't a bolt-in job.
Had to have ring gear spacer made to use the limited slip carrier into the W123 case. NOT a diyer!!!
