vaccum shut off valve 1987 TD
I'm trying to replace the vacuum shut off valve on my car, it sems hard to do it without removing the intake, could anyone tell me an easy way to do it?
I'm sick and tired of opening the hood to press the stop lever every time I have to shut it off. Thanks, Mymini |

I just did it a few weeks ago. Yes it can be done w/o removing much. I did have to remove the windshield washer tank, but it pulls straight up to remove... no big deal.
The ALDA needs to come off too(http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/69422-om603-alda-removal-instructions.html#post431887). Do a search and you will find plenty of information. In the ALDA removal pics you will see the white plastic style(yours may be metal) shut off valve. The black electrical connector behind it needs to come off in order to get the valve out. use http://www.dieselgiant.com/repairyourshutoffvalve.htm as a guide although it's a different engine... Same principle. Have fun.
