Water Pumps how difficult are they to put in a 84' 300 D and are there any links
I was wondering the difficulty of putting in a new water pump in a 84' turbodiesel. I have a service manual but it doesn't put too much light on the matter. If anyone can lead me to a link about doing this procedure that would be great.
I figure it is time to do a citric acid flush to get rid of those calcium deposits and I might have to change the water pump, but it would be nice to know how even if that isn't the case. I appreciate it. |

It's easy. Remove the shroud. Remove the fan and clutch with a 10mm box end with the outside ground thin to fit in the space, unbolt the pump, remove, replace.

Kerry is right really not that bad. Just make sure to get a long 10mm and again grind it down (I had a short one and not enough leverage could be had). Replace your pump now before it strands you on the side of the road.......so speaks the voice of experience

Agreed, easy, you may want to use anti-seize compound on the bolts.
