and look like everyone else.

I enjoyed spanking a kid in a Z28 with my wagon today. $2.75 a gallon surprised filling up shortly after. I can remember approaching $100.00 at one point to fill the old BMW.

Don't kid yourself..........they are a durable vehicle and hardly "disposable". They suffer from fools who perform absolutely no maintenance and they still go 150K. With proper maintenance, I'd bet they have the same longevity as our vehicles.

Meh, after 10 or 15 years he will probably want something different anyway.

Here is an example, I need my transmission fluid changed soon. I'm not about to get under the truck and drop the pan, that lacks a drain plug...taking a bath in ATF doesn't sound all that fun.

So I'm going to drive it up to the Chevy dealer, and read a book while they take a bath.

See DIY!

Sorry, wrong terminology ... I meant differential bushings, as in the bushings holding the diff to the subframe. I haven't hit the FSM to study for this job yet, but isn't there a mount at the front of the differential?

Nope, it just has two allen bolts securing it to the subframe in front....I think there is a bushing between the top of the diff and the subframe though...not entirely sure. Surprisingly I've had to spend very little time aside from my inisital few days of "sprucing up" on the 300E....its been a....drive...change oil.....drive....type of car! I'm finding things to fix now....I've decided to replace all the shocks/struts/strut mounts soon. Its a rather bouncy ride since they are all beyond dead/shot. (My wife doesn't care....but its eating away at me. ) Last thing I did to it was change the plug wires and plugs a little over a month ago....just because the old ones weren't in very good shape. It runs even better with the new wires and plugs....that job only took about 25 minutes....almost too easy!

I'd go crazy....gotta have something to fix at least sometimes! I'm getting anxious.....Friday is my rear-axles re-booting day, I am excited!!! Maybe I'll even take pics this time. And in a couple weeks I begin phase one of the W124 shocks replacement (rear first). Fun fun!!

It's the only way to reduce down time. I re-did my exhaust manifold gaskets, built a 3" exhaust system and took apart and re-assembled my turbo charger. ALL in one sitting. 22.5 hours and about 4 pots of coffee.

$65 for gaskets, and $175 for the pipe. my long-weekend time was free.

Exhaust in a shop and gaskets and turbo would have been in excess of $1,500.

What made it heavenly was getting to borrow my friend's lift, and a very skilled mechanic giving me direction and checking in on me regularly and helping when needed. Getting up at 6 AM has been tough, but facing a $1000 for a mechanic to do it would be worse.

I had to wait over 2 weeks for the lift to clear, but it was worth it. Man oh Man do I need one of those.
The fun is over. I took an entire day off to finish it, and worked from 9-5. Replaced the lines, rotors, pads, tranny fluid and filter. The moment of truth finally arrives, and after testing the brakes multiple times after doing a full bleed twice, they mushed up.

I don't care how much a power bleeder costs. If I do this again I will not attempt it without it. I cannot miss any more work, and his shop is closed on the weekends, so they are just going to have to deal with it. I didn't even get a full week honeymoon period with this car.
